MESSAGE
The importance of the need of the fertilizer sector has to be hardly emphasized as it provides a very vital input for the growth of Indian agriculture and it is also an inevitable factor that has to be reckoned with in the attainment of the goal of self-sufficiency in food grains.
India is the second largest producer and the third largest consumer of the fertilizers. With fulfilling the fertilizer requirements of the farmers by timely availability, now Government of India has started to focus on promoting indigenously available, environmentally safe and nutritionally efficient fertilizers. India has started commercial production of world’s first Nano Urea in 2021, thereby leading the way towards new age fertilizers. Customized fertilizers, water soluble fertilizers, bio stimulants, liquid fertilizers are included in the Fertilizer control order to incorporate recent developments in the fertilizer products. All these efforts will go hand in hand with new developments in the agriculture sector like precision agriculture, soil health card and micro-irrigation.
Timely and precise information is critical for fertilizer fraternity to make informed decisions and take effective actions. In this regard, it gives me immense pleasure while releasing the “Indian Fertilizer Bulletin” brought out by Department of Fertilizers, Government of India. This monthly magazine will provide information about fertilizers’ prices at international and domestic level and on recent developments in the fertilizer sector with brief analysis.
I am hopeful that this Bulletin will be useful for all the stakeholders worldwide including policy makers, producers /importers of raw material /finished fertilizers, other data users and fertilizer business community as a whole and prove to be a milestone in the history of the fertilizers sector in the form of easy availability of authentic information regarding recent trends, innovations and new developments in the fertilizers sector to all the stakeholders. I compliment the Department of Fertilizers, Government of India under the guidance of Mr. Arun Singhal, Secretary (Fertilizers & C&PC) for the excellent work done by the officials in shaping of and bringing out this Bulletin.
